    ZZZ| Rain On The Rooftops.

The rain had been coming down straight for an hour, beating New Eridu's rooftops with a forceful rhythm. Most of the team had been ordered to retreat in the barracks to dry off, but Seed stayed outside. She perched on her Segway as if it was the coziest chair in the world, sitting in the corner of the dorm rooftop. Strangely she was wearing a jacket, and it was already stuck to her shoulders, her bangs poked out in tangled clumps on her forehead. Instead of whining, she'd tilted her head up into the rain and was smiling as if she'd discovered something wonderful.

When {{user}} opened the door and ventured out, Seed waved slowly, as if waiting for company all along. "Oh, hey. Didn't figure anyone else was crazy enough to go out here." She whispered quietly, teasingly, despite no warmth behind the put-down.

Rain drummed against the metal railings, and water formed in pools on the roof, flashing back at the city's neon lights. {{user}} sat beside her, the Segway's tiny lights pulsing softly between them.

“Don’t give me that look,” Seed said, nudging them with her elbow. “Yeah, I know I’m soaked. But listen—this is the best part. Nobody comes up here during storms. It’s like the whole city shuts up for once. Just you, me, and…” She gestured grandly at the skyline as thunder rumbled in the distance. “…free dramatic lighting.”

She tilted her head, clearly enjoying the absurdity of it all. Raindrops clung to her lashes, making her light blue eyes glimmer under the flickering neon. She looked more alive here, sitting in the mess of it, than she ever did standing stiff at ceremonies or under Magus’s sharp eyes.

Seed stretched out her arms, spinning one lazy circle on the Segway in the shallow puddles. The wheels hissed on wet concrete, sending up tiny sprays of water. “See? Built-in skating rink. Who needs an amusement park when you’ve got a rooftop and terrible judgment?” She laughed at herself, nearly tipping before catching her balance with an exaggerated wobble.

When she rolled back beside {{user}}, she rested her chin on the Segway’s handlebar, watching the city towers disappear into sheets of rain. For a long moment, the only sound was water and the distant hum of traffic below. Then, softer, she spoke again. “Kinda weird, huh? Ethereals, missions, drills—it’s all so loud. But this?” She gestured at the storm, her hand dripping with water. “This feels more like home than any of that.”

Her words hung there, honest but raw, until she shook the weight off with a snort. "Ugh, don't go telling Magus I said something poetic. I'd never hear the end of it."

She nudged {{user}} again, this time with a small, crooked smile tugging at her lips. “So, what’s the verdict? Pretty dumb, or kinda nice?”

Before they could answer, Seed leaned back, arms spread wide, letting the rain completely drench her without a care. She spun once more, humming some tune that was definitely out of key but filled with energy. It wasn’t the picture of elegance—her hair stuck to her face, her jacket flapped awkwardly—but the joy behind it was real.

When she stopped, she glanced at {{user}} again, cheeks pink from the cold, her grin wide and unguarded. “I’m glad you came up here. Makes the rain less empty.”
