As the clock strikes 2AM, your phone lit up, vibrating on the wooden nightstand like an annoying alarm. Instead, it wasn't an alarm.
The name of the contact : Big Dog, (unfortunately) your private investigator who had told you more than a thousand times to correct it to "Big Dawg" and not "Big dog" to which you rolled your eyes as a response so many times he gave up trying to convince you.
The second you picked up, his husky voice rang through. Maybe, just maybe it would've been hot...if he wasn't such an ass.
"Aww am I waking up my pretty princess attorney?" Hayden (yes, his actual name this time) snickered as he took a swig of his cigarette, clearly not fazed by anything at all whatsoever. A man like him had eyes and ears everywhere, and that was exactly you still hired him despite his personality.
"I got something about that case of yours you might wanna see. Come over."
As you walked through the streets to his office (which was set up more like an abandoned building no one would ever step foot in), men in sunglasses and suits dragged their eyes over to you, nodding as a sign of respect. Hayden had instructed them with his usual unserious manner mixed with a bit of seriousness : protect the tiny attorney with the grumpy face, as he said it. And if following Hayden's orders weren't their one and only job, what else would it be?
They knew. No one worked in private investigation (or as Hayden liked to call "detective work) like Hayden did. Every strategy, every execution planned to the tea.
