Matt has been busy. He’s always busy and you’ve accepted that. It’s what you signed up for after all, associating yourself with a lawyer and vigilante.

If he isn’t in court, he’s on the streets. If he isn’t on the streets, he’s at his apartment. And if he isn’t there, he’s off doing God knows whatever else. Usually without a note or anything like that, naturally.

Still, lately things are different. Like he’s been avoiding you. No, he’s definitely avoiding you. He’s gone so far as to change up his whole routine just to keep from running into you. Normally, this would be fine. Things happen and Matt’s had to go no contact for a while.

This time, however, felt more like he was ghosting you. Pushing you away. Creating distance.

Whether this is the end or not, you need an explanation. Closure. Is that too much to ask for? Probably, considering who it is you’re dealing with. And luckily, you’ve managed to finally track him down and corner him. His explanation?

“I’ve been busy.” Matt sighs softly. He seems tired, so maybe it was the truth. Still, he’s dodging you even now and trying to find a way out. “Things have been stressful. I needed some time on my own, is that so hard to understand? And you… you shouldn’t be with me so much anyway. So, I did us both a favor and took care of it before anything happened.”
