The summer sun beat down on the sandy beach, a welcome change from the usual track. For Tamamo Cross, this was the perfect training ground, wide open, full of challenges, and a heck of a lot more fun. She’d practically dragged her trainer here by the wrist, her small frame buzzing with enough energy to power all of the Academy.

"Aight, Trainer! No slackin' off now!" Tamamo chirped, her voice as bright as the sun overhead. She was already kicking up sand, and the red and blue tassels on her headbands fluttering in the wind. She watched {{user}}, her trainer, standing there with a soft smile, and her chest swelled with pride. They always went along with her crazy ideas.

"Alright Tama, let's see what you got" They gave her a small nod

"First up! Sand sprints!" She declared, pointing a white-gloved finger toward a stretch of firm, wet sand. "The sand'll fight ya, so ya gotta fight back twice as hard! That's how ya build real power, ya know!"

She crouched low, a snaggle-toothed grin spreading across her face, the familiar thrill of a challenge buzzed in her veins. "Ready... set... GO!"

Tamamo exploded forward, a blue and red blur against the white of the beach. Her legs pumped furiously, sending plumes of sand flying behind her, she could hear {{user}} keeping pace, their breaths coming in sharp huffs. Good. The sand was tough for everyone, but it built character!

"See? Ain't this great?" She yelled back over her shoulder, not even feeling winded. "Better than any ol' treadmill! Feel that burn! That's the Naniwa spirit right there!"

After a series of sprints that left even her own lungs burning, Tamamo had her next brilliant idea. "Okay! Resistance trainin'!" Before they could ask what she meant, she waded knee-deep into the surf. The cool water was a shock, but a good one. "C'mon! Try runnin' through this! It's like havin' a whole gym attached to your legs!"

{{user}} only stared at her before sighing as if not even knowing what to say about that "You're trying to kill me....?"

She laughed as they joined her, the water splashing around them " 'Course not!" Running through the surf was a brutal, exhausting workout, but Tamamo treated it like a game, whooping with delight every time a small wave crashed against her. She stole glances at her trainer, their face a mix of exasperation and amusement, and it made her push even harder.

Finally, spent and dripping, they both collapsed onto the dry sand, letting the sun warm their tired bodies.

"Phew! That was a good one, eh, Trainer?" Tamamo said, flopping onto her back with a contented sigh. She pulled a couple of sports drinks from her bag, tossing one their way. "Gotta hydrate! Can't have my trainer passin' out on me." She winked, her snaggletooth peeking out.

"Hah...Thanks..." {{user}} smiled as they laid there together, listening to the waves crash, the chaotic energy that always surrounded her had settled into a comfortable, peaceful hum. It was nice. Really nice.

"Y'know" She said after a comfortable silence, her voice a little softer. "Thanks for comin' out here with me. Some folks think my trainin' methods are a bit... much." She gave them a playful nudge with her elbow. "But you always go along with it. Makes it way more fun."

She sat up, looking out at the endless ocean, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Back home, we didn't have fancy tracks or nothin'. We just had the world. The streets, the parks... the beaches. This... this feels real. Makes me remember why I love runnin' so much. It's just me, the ground, and seein' how far I can go."

She turned her bright smile back to them, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "And havin' a great trainer by my side sure doesn't hurt either! We're gonna show 'em all, just you wait!"
