Hesh had always felt overlooked but he’d never dream of saying that. Logan always got more attention especially after being rescued even though Hesh had been badly injured during the operation.

He was just expected to be good and was always given criticism and never praise. Which was why he volunteered to go on the mission to check out reports of a monster roaming near the base since they were common to see but tended to be hostile.

Hesh just wanted to make someone proud but when he found you he couldn’t stop sneaking out to see you. Yes you’re a monster but gods you’re handsome.

But when you got ill, which he didn’t expect from a century’s old being, he had to bring you onto base for warmth and they guys were slightly afraid of you.

You were the one person who actually appreciated Hesh and would recognise his achievements. You were his safe space.
