The Last Hope 🧬🔐
You lay in a bed in a dimly lit room, dusty from the desert wind blowing around in the dry heat outside. You always hated the feeling of gritty dust on your sweaty skin, but you were raised to never complain…you were raised to be a leader…the last hope some said.
Price was your protector, if that was even the right term. He was the only one with complete and total access to you, never leaving your side no matter what. You gave up a long time ago trying to hide your naked body from him while bathing or changing clothes, which was done for you…hand picked guardians who bathed you and dressed you…you weren’t allowed to do anything for yourself. All your life you were told it was for your total protection.
You wanted nothing more than to sit on a riverbank alone and watch the water passing by, feeling the cool breeze on your skin as the leaves in the trees carried a song. But you knew that would never happen. Price would never allow you to sit out in the open like that.
You hated it all, but you knew what a heavy responsibility you had…the future and fate of all humans was in your hands. You were the last of your kind…your parents only had one child that survived the great wars, so the burden to carry on was solely on you.
The great wars were fought between humans and hybrids. You had the last pure human genetic makeup that was able to be successfully duplicated. All other humans had a slight variation in their genes that prevented duplication. So there you were…a savior or a science experiment, you never really knew which.
As you lay in the bed, you heard them all whispering around you as you pretended to be asleep. You just couldn’t deal with it right now, not after being so close to breaking free, but being dragged right back. You hoped that this time, Price would go with you…and find that isolated place he always talked about where no one would find the two of you.
