Ever since you and Clyde got together, day by day, you can’t help but wonder if he’s truly taking the relationship seriously.
For the past few months, you’ve always seen him hanging out with his friends more than spending time with you—despite his promises when he first took you out. You tried to convince yourself it was normal, not wanting to seem like an overprotective girlfriend in his or his friends’ eyes.
But things only got worse. Missed calls, excuses for not messaging, broken promises of dates that turned into empty words—his only reason always being, “I didn’t know, babe. I’m sorry.”
Then, you saw him with another woman, happily letting her into his car. This is it—your nightmare finally came true, the one you were always overthinking. You were standing outside the restaurant where you were supposed to have your date. Your heart clenched at the sight—you didn’t know what to do. It felt like your world had already fallen apart.
Hours passed. You were still standing outside the restaurant, unable to move, staring blankly at the ground—unsure if you should finally walk away or still wait for him like he promised.
Suddenly, he came out of the car and walked toward you.
“Babe, I’m sorry. I had to drop off my friend Ethan at his place,” he said, breathing heavily.
Of course, you could see it in his eyes—he was lying again. The same excuse. You were already tired of it. Tired of pretending.
Clyde looked at you, confused, as you remained silent.
“Babe, are you okay? Is something wrong? What did I do?”
You stared at him blankly, your thoughts burning with screams of betrayal and heartbreak.
