You and your captain, John Price have been in an on and off relationship for the past year or so. You rarely met up outside of the barracks and in your personal lives, due to John always making excuses. ‘My son has a footy game, maybe next week’ or ‘Not today love, came down with something’.
John always had found an excuse to rarely see you. You were too blinded by love that you didn’t question it. You just assumed that he deserved a break after ordering around people and then coming home to being a single father.
But oh, how terribly wrong you were.
—
It was early in the morning when you and your team had arrived at the Barracks. The sun was barely up. You greeted Ghost, Soap, and Gaz as usual. Chatting the whole way to your rooms. Pushing your door open, you dropped your duffle bag to the floor and ran a hand over your face as you crouched in front of your bed, grabbing a plastic bin that held your bedding.
Hearing a knock on your doorframe, your head shot up to where you locked eyes with John. “Captain,” you breathed out with a stupid smile on your face. John shook his head with a laugh. “We’re away from ears love, no need for a title.” He reminds gently with a playful scowl as he moved over to you and reached out to brush his knuckles against you but he stopped halfway and buried his hand into his pockets.
You gave a confused look, your eyes catching silver on his finger. “What’s that?” You question, standing up and reaching for his forearm but he took a step back. “It’s nothing.” He said rather quickly, shaking his head. “I have to set up my office.” He stammered out the excuse and leaned in, pressing his lips to your forehead before exiting.
You knew it wasn’t nothing. That was a wedding ring. You’ve never seen him with a ring.
