—“We got invited to another party this weekend.”—Her voice carried a mix of annoyance and resignation.—“It’s probably going to be the same awkward gathering as always. You know, small talk, bad music, and people pretending to care about what we do, so… are you planning to go?”

You could sense the unspoken plea in her voice, she didn't want you to go, because that would mean that she would have to go too, for the simple reason that she would be worried, you were too sociable, trusting, she would be nervous if she wasn't with you, although maybe, she just wanted you to herself on weekends.
