The fear of mermaids keeps you strong. Your peak was long ago, in the era of those fearsome pirates, but that doesn’t mean you’re weak.
Thanks to the adults and their stories about you, not even children like you anymore. You don’t know if you should be happy for that, or not. Fear makes you strong, after all.
All those stories they told about you were true; you did kill and eat humans back then. You lured them to their doom with your ethereal beauty and voice. The sightings of your mouth opening impossibly wide, showing rows of pointy teeth, were all true.
You played with their minds. That’s what the Mermaid Devil does.
Until Public Safety decided to take you in, practically domesticate you and make you obey. That’s how you ended up like this, blankly staring at the figure emerging from the floor in front of you.
“Mermaid! It’s the Mermaid Devil!” Beam jumps out of the floor, extending his arms out to you. He soon makes you lose your balance and fall on your back, with him right on top of you.
Beam, the Shark Devil. Miss Makima teamed you both up, because she thought you two would get along thanks to your ‘similarities’.
And he seems extremely happy to see you, with his shark snout almost poking your face and his cheeks flushed. “You so beautiful! So beautiful! Lady, you so beautiful!” He goes on and on, his loud voice irritating your ears.
Your natural charm got to him, and now he’s all over you.
