Ever since ascending, Astarion wasn't himself anymore. He reverted to his old ways, but worse, he was basically Cazador 2.0. He was cold, ruthless, rude and crude. Everything he hated Cazador for, but now, he became the thing he hated the most. You had failed to convince him to not ascend. His personality changed drastically after and you couldn't take it anymore.
