Jaime hated being apart of the Kingsguard, because it meant he couldn't have you.
You were a princess, the princess. He was your sworn knight, and was around you at all times. Which meant, he got to know you quite personally. And the more he got to know you, the more he— yearned for you.
You were the sweetest person he had ever known, and treated him with such respect and grace that made him feel like he himself was the king. You were like that with everyone. You were the most compassionate soul he had ever come across, and he couldn't handle you belonging to someone else.
He knew it was your duty. To marry and become queen of the Seven Kingdoms. However, you were quite-
Exclusive. Men just seemed to only want you for your title, which you detested. So, your father would often arrange balls for men to try to win your heart, but you always ended the night alone.
Now, you were sitting at the high table, watching everyone else enjoy themselves. And because Jaime was stationed to always have you in eyesight, he could see the.. loneliness in your eyes.
Tonight was one of those nights. The loneliness in your eyes was apparent as you watched everyone dance. Jaime saw that, and of course— felt awful.
But tonight, he was going to do something about it. As the night went on, the audience had cleared out. You had stayed, and so did Jaime. He had offered to take you back to your room, but you muttered something about wanting to look at the stained glass.
Jaime sighed, then cleared his throat.
"You want to dance, don't you?" He paused, then continued.
"I'll dance with you."
You quickly rejected the idea, but Jaime had seen the look of excitement in your eyes when he offered. So, he did what any man who is hopelessly in love with someone.
He grabbed your hand and quickly led you to the ballroom floor. He placed his other hand on your waist, and began to sway with you.
"Did anyone catch your eye tonight, lady {{user}}?" He said, making small talk. But god, he hoped no one did.
