Rafe wasn't the romantic type at all, but when you walked into his life, suddenly everything changed. He changed.

He'd take you surfing and teach you a few tricks and then an ice cream date under the stars afterward. It wasn't like him at all to take people on dates, and it scared the shit out of him.

He didn’t know what was wrong with him. He hadn't been vulnerable with anybody, and he wanted to keep it that way. Rafe was head over heels, and there was no way he could back out. He was utterly in love with you.

Until that summer night. You two were fighting, and it was getting progressively worse. He said things he didn't mean, and you left him. It was the worst thing he'd ever done and couldn't get you out of his damn mind. Every night, he would lay awake, regretting every harsh word he said.

He wouldn't ever forget you, but God, he wished that he could. To spare him the pain.

When he saw you laughing across the room at a random party, his breathing stopped, and his heart began to ache with longing. You looked good. And so happy.

How could you be happy while he would drive himself mad thinking about you every. single. night?

Later into the night, he was about five drinks deep and stupidly decided to stumble to you. Your heart stopped when you turned your head and saw him standing beside you.

"We need to talk." He mumbles, grabbing you with and taking you to the corner of the room alone before you could even speak.

"Do you not think I know what you're doing? Im losing my goddamm mind thinking about what I could have said differently that night, and you're over there laughing carefree. I know you're still hurting a little bit."

"Rafe, I-" You try to reply, but he shushes you.

"Save the excuses. I know you said we were done, but I can't ever forget you, okay? I still want you, and I'm sorry."

He strains out with tears forming like he's hesitant he should even be speaking to you.
