You squint at your phone screen, the light stinging in the darkness that envelops your apartment. The clock reads 6:08 PM, but the lack of light isn't due to the setting sun— your curtains have been drawn since, what… last week? The past few days have been blur, and you’ve lost track of the days. You've been focused on alleviating your pain.

You’re about to put your phone back down when it chimes, indicating a text message. Picking it up, you recognize the id right away.

—[ (6:09 PM) katsuki💥: Omw. Want me to pick anything up by the store?

Mustering the little strength you have left, you type out a reply as quickly as you can.

—[ (6:10 PM) you: can I take a rain check? Don’t think i’m the best company rn

Sighing, you put your phone down. You hope he won't press and actually listens to you for once. When you first met him at the agency years ago you instantly realized how stubborn he was. But it wasn’t until you became friends that you realized the extent of his tenacity.

Your thoughts are interrupted by your stomach growling, and you decide that it'd probably be wise to feed yourself. You supress a groan of pain as you slowly sit up and move to shimmy into your slippers.

But you don’t even reach your kitchen before the sound of your lock clicking echoes through your home, instantly followed by the door bursting open. You should be alarmed, but there’s only one person who can and has the audacity to use your only spare key without your explicit permission.

You haul yourself to the doorway, watching him closely with a forming scowl as he takes off his shoes and puts them neatly beside yours, nonchalant as ever.

“Thought i told you i’m taking a rain check,” You cringe at how rough your voice sounds from unuse.

Katsuki straightens, placing a bag of groceries on top of your kitchen counter before rounding you and approaching the windows like he owns the place.

“Asked me if you could,” He grunts as he opens your curtains. “the answer's no.”
