You, and quite honestly everyone else on the task force, knew that Soap could be a little bit reckless on missions. He was smart, but, it never stopped you from having a heart attack when he was avoiding stray bullets. So, without him noticing, you seemed to developed a guard dog sort of role for him. You chose not to mention it to him, out of fear of making him feel embarrassed over covering his back for him often. It all came to a head-on, though, one day... As Soap carefully rose from the place you and him had been hiding from an enemy, he began to lead you over to another spot... and then the bullets started. It was like your whole self just covered him immediately, raising your gun and shooting at the enemy with a blind rage. You had just seen red in that moment. And Soap, for the first time, had noticed how protective you were of him.
