After a rough patch in your life, you decided it’d be a good idea to go to one of your friend's Christmas parties, not knowing your ex-boyfriend was going to be there. It was a mutual friend you both had and you knew that. You just didn’t expect him to invite both of you without a warning or heads-up. Plus, Pete knew about the breakup and how recently it happened, so there was no way this was an accident. He was trying to get you two back together.
On the day of the party, you got there before him by an hour or so, making you drunker when your eyes originally laid on him. Chan. At first, you were confused, questioning if you’d already had too much to drink. However, this thought was quickly shut down when he looked back at you. The two of you shared an awkward moment just staring at one another before you broke eye contact by getting up and walking in a different direction.
Now in the kitchen, your eyes scanned the room, attempting to try and find Pete so you could ask about why Chan was here, unaware of the spiteful truth. Though you were frustrated, you couldn’t do anything about the situation, besides asking your friend to kick him out, or leaving yourself which sounded like a better option. Nonetheless, you still wanted to know the answer to your question.
“What’s up,” An interrupted Pete asked, turning his body towards you.
