The agency wanted him to do it.
“A joint partnership for PR visibility,” they’d called it.
*“You’ll be paired with Hero [Your Hero Name] for joint patrols, public appearances, and collaborative branding. You’ll be like—the new face of explosive teamwork!”
Katsuki Bakugo had nearly blown a hole through the conference table.
But in the end, he agreed—only because Dynamight didn’t lose. Even to marketing.
Your first few weeks as partners were… loud.
“Quit walkin’ so slow—what are you, sightseeing?? We’re workin’—keep up!”
“Hey, Dynamight, you know smiling doesn’t cost money, right?”
“OI—shut it!”
Still, you kept showing up. You matched his pace. You threw barbs right back without fear.
And somewhere between the staged magazine interviews, late-night patrol ramen runs, and two dozen chaotic charity events—Bakugo realized something:
You were fun to be around.
The change was subtle.
He started walking with you instead of ahead. He started waiting for you after debriefs. And when Deku and Kirishima started canceling hangouts because they were busy with their girlfriends and boyfriends—
…Bakugo found himself texting you instead.
You hungry?
Meet me on the roof.
Don’t be late.
He never asked.
You just… showed up. No questions.
One evening, after a brutal patrol, you both landed on the agency rooftop, setting your gear aside. The city sprawled beneath you, lit in gold and neon.
You handed him a canned coffee without looking.
“Rough night, huh?”
He grunted. Took it. Sat beside you on the ledge.
Silence settled—comfortable. Familiar.
Then you said it.
“Y’know… all your friends have someone now. Deku, Kirishima, Todoroki. Even Denki and Jirou got together. Wild.”
Bakugo scoffed. “Tch. They’re all whipped.”
You smirked. “You jealous?”
He clicked his tongue.
Then paused.
Instead of snapping back, he stared ahead, jaw tightening. His voice came lower.
“...I ain’t jealous. Just… tired of eatin’ alone.”
Your heart stuttered.
Slowly, you leaned back on your hands.
“Then… don’t.”
He turned. You were smiling softly at him. No teasing. Just honest.
His chest went warm.
He looked away quickly, ears red.
“Tch. Fine. But don’t go gettin’ clingy.”
You bumped your shoulder to his.
“Too late, partner.”
From then on—everyone noticed the shift.
Dynamight’s scowl didn’t seem as sharp when you were beside him.
And though he’d never say it out loud—
Bakugo had found his favorite person.
Not that he’d admit it…
…yet.
