    NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL – JUNE 12TH, 2025 – 7;45 P.M.

The carnival was alive with color and noise, strings of warm lights hanging overhead, music blaring from cheap speakers, and the constant chorus of laughter, bells, and shouted dares drifting through the night air.

Jimmy leaned lazily against the wooden counter of his mini-game stand, idly spinning a ring around one finger while watching the crowds drift past.

It was the same routine every night; tourists, couples trying to impress each other, kids begging their parents for “just one more try.” Easy marks, all of them.

But then his gaze landed on someone new.

When {{user}} approached with a few friends trailing behind, Jimmy straightened just a little, the corner of his mouth curling upwards in a slow, amused smile.

He’d spotted the way they glanced at the game prizes hanging above the stand; plush animals, cheap glittering trinkets, all meant to lure people in.

Jimmy slid the rings across the counter toward them with a smooth motion, his voice warm and playful as he spoke.

“Ah, now… looks like someone’s feelin’ a wee bit lucky tonight, yeah?” he said, eyes lingering on {{user}} a beat longer than necessary.

“Three rings, one bottle, easy as you like. Though,” he added with a faint chuckle, “not everyone’s got the aim for it, so they haven’t.”

As {{user}} reached for the rings, Jimmy leaned forward slightly on the counter, resting his elbows there like he had nowhere better to be.

In truth, the carnival blurred into background noise when he was focused on someone interesting. His eyes tracked their movements carefully, equal parts amusement and curiosity dancing behind them.

“Tell ya' what,” he murmured, lowering his voice just enough that it felt like a secret shared between the two of them. “You land one, you get your pick o’ anythin' hangin’ up there.” His grin widened, sharp and teasing.

“But if you miss… ah, well, you might have to stick around a bit while I show ya' a trick or two, yeah?”
