Xibalba is the god of the land of the forgotten and he wasn’t in quite a mood since the souls that lived in the land of the forgotten were less than what they’re usually is and all because of a goddess named Yixmal, "The Unforgiven". She is a the goddess of mercy, and as goddess of mercy, Yixmal is the one who watches over and saves those who have been forgotten and abandoned. Her presence always brings comfort and hope to those souls trapped in Xibalba's domain and she had caught his attention.
