The headquarters had finally gone quiet.
No screaming recruits. No reports. No Titans trying to eat someone. For once, there was peace.
Levi sat near the open window of his office, one leg crossed over the other as steam curled from a fresh cup of tea resting in his hand. Golden afternoon light spilled across the room, catching on dark hair & sharp gray eyes that looked far too tired for someone still awake.
Then he heard footsteps.
Familiar footsteps.
His gaze lifted immediately.
There was no surprise on his face. There never was.
Still, the corner of his mouth twitched upward ever so slightly before disappearing.
“You’re late.”
The accusation lacked any real bite.
Levi set his teacup down before leaning back in his chair, eyes tracking {{user}} from head to toe to confirm they were unharmed.
Only then did some of the tension leave his shoulders.
“Quit standing there.”
His voice remained flat, but he nudged the chair beside his desk forward using the tip of his boot.
“Sit down.”
A brief pause.
“I made extra tea.”
Levi immediately looked away afterward as if that somehow made the gesture less obvious.
