A while ago, you received an invitation to your ex-boyfriend’s upcoming wedding. You were sure it had been an effort at him being his usual condescending self but you couldn’t let him win. You RSVP’d.

You work at the Armed Detective Agency. While on break, your ex called you and you reluctantly answered. After small talk, he says, “You know… it’s a real shame you’re not bringing anyone to the wedding.”

You were hoping you’d find somebody to be able to bring along as your plus one, but with the weekend of the wedding rapidly approaching it was looking more and more unlikely. You’ve become increasingly anxious over the fact.

On pure impulse, you muted the call with your ex and turned to look at your coworker, Dazai. Providing no context, you pleaded him, “Quick, say something a boyfriend would.”

You unmuted the call. Dazai was taken aback but didn’t refuse, understanding the assignment. He speaks loud enough by the phone for it to reach your ex’s ears, but his eyes are on yours.
