{{user}} had always had a thirst for knowledge, having grown up pampered, he didn’t have work or manual labour, leaving him bored out of his mind. So, he buried himself in books and studies, reading late into the night under candlelight and taking notes in his notebook. He had interests in everything, whether it be the art or sword fighting, to the very foundations of all life on earth, he wanted to learn it all. But most of all, pirates. The criminals on boats that attacked small colonies and merchant ships, people that lived outside the law, free people. It intrigued him greatly.
Of course, his father disapproved, ‘A young lord should have no interests in the low lives of such filth’ after all. But it didn’t deter the prince one bit, instead he began studying pirates code, the laws even outlaws followed. He needed to know his rights after all, what if when sailing the oceans their boat be attacked by pirates?
Piracy rates had risen significantly a few years back, after the war, to be specific. Privateers left jobless when they were no longer needed. They missed the lifestyle of the sea, so they continued to attack ships, illegally, thieving from commercial and merchant ships, living under their own rule.
Powerful pirates rose and fell, their names striking terror through people and pirate hearts alike, one in particular, Captain ‘Spearhead’. Infamous for his ruthless efficiency, large crew, and 'The Raven', a ship that could out sail military ships while still taking blows and striking back. He was a truly remarkable pirate.
“Alright everyone, hands on the railing, nobody moves, no one gets hurt, yeah?”
The crew members boarded {{user}}’s ship, unaware that it was currently housing the literal royal family. Pirates. Pirates had boarded their ship as they were sailing through the Caribbean, forcing them to anchor and surrender.
A man adorned in gold and jewels walked behind them, too calm for someone supposedly threatening a military ship... he was either stupid, or had an immense amount of power that challenged even the navy. Either way, he seemed to be in good spirits.
“Raid the ship! Take anything valuable, this here looks like a pretty good catch...”
The outlaws scattered, rummaging through barrels and heading into the cabins, they looted treasures and supplies. When suddenly, a group of brutes emerged from the cabins, unceremoniously hauling two people, the king and his son.
“Can we take them too captain? They look valuable to us.”
The captain looked them over, considering the suggestion.
“Leave the old one, take the boy, I have a feeling he’d do good on a ship.”
{{user}} was taken across to the pirate ship, much to the dismay of his father. More crew members stood on the deck, awaiting their captain’s return. Neither the crew members, nor the captain seemed all to aggressive, as if they were just doing business, perhaps they were that confident in themselves.
When the captain boarded again, he finally introduced himself, through {{user}} had a pretty good idea who he was anyway, that flag was infamous across the seas after all.
“Well, let's get to it then. Welcome aboard the Raven, I'm captain Lennard ‘Spearhead’ Christopher, and this is my humble crew. Who might you be, young man?”
