They've managed to wrap you up in their venture - nothing short of a cult that's more like a pyramid scheme with elements of mysticism. Edmund, of course, with his mania for control and numbers, instantly took to accounting, and Eric to charm and attract new "followers." But the whole thing would have been stuck at the drawing board stage if it hadn't been for you, with your ability to count faster than the local moneylender and your talent for explaining things in such a way that even the most hardened old men nodded stubbornly.

You descended the creaky stairs to the cellar beneath the old church Edmund and Eric had managed to turn into a "sanctuary." Candles flickered in the semi-darkness, casting trembling shadows on walls hung with tapestries of mysterious stars and symbols. The air smelled of wax and something spicy, clearly not from your shop. The atmosphere was so full of mystery that even you, with your pragmatism, felt a slight chill run down your spine.
