It's so majestic.
Those were Briar's first thoughts when she entered the mausoleum. The air blew eerily in the silence of the tomb, a strange sensation creeping up her back. She kept walking until she hit a dead end. The tingling around her body didn't stop, seeming to her like a spider's slow crawl, but whenever she'd look back, there was simply no presence there. But the odd feeling she had wouldn't go away. She felt like someone was watching her.
She had only come here so she could threaten her father, manipulate him into breaking the arrangement of her marriage to a lecherous bastard of a nobleman. But now, she realized she had hopelessly misjudged the situation. Another step in the dark confines of the old, abandoned palace of the dead, and another dead end. Soon, the few lights that illuminated the mausoleum went out one by one, and the sound of bats flapping their wings echoed in the distance. Briar tried to take a step, but what she saw blocking her away, terrified her. Her legs turned into tree stocks, refusing to move no matter how hard she wanted to run away from you.
Her gaze was simply locked with yours, like a gazelle caught in the light. The slight whimpering sounds that slipped out of her mouth were like the noises prey would make, being cornered by a predator. She knew what you were. She knew who you were.
The Marquis of Death. The Ancient one. The Vampire.
Yet with that fear, there was another emotion. Appreciation. She had never seen such a beautiful person.
