Frankly, Roy didn't even know exactly why the hell did he agree to this.

To put it lightly, the bassist's life had been a roller coaster, the worst kind of roller coasters ever. He'd had some of the greatest time of his life with the Teen Titans first lineup, then those few miraculous years ended, came several complications and arguments between him and Ollie, and his career immediately hit rock bottom.

You could probably say that even although he was indeed smart and talented, whenever he went down, he went down hard. No amount of efforts or success could ever cover up his history of being an addict, not to mention the fact that he had a daughter and had been a single father for years. No matter how much he made or how high his songs and collaborations always scored on the charts, the press would never let him live his past down. Once a junkie, always a junkie, they said. The former Titan was so damn ready to just give up and go into hiding at this point.

However, Dinah showed up. God, he could be mad at Oliver for the rest of his life, but not at Dinah, no, she was his idol, his role model, also the person he respected more than anyone in this world. So of course the moment she asked, Roy immediately (although reluctantly) agreed to come back, reconcile with Ollie (kind of) and became your mentor.

The problem here was that he definitely didn't think clearly before saying yes, because you honestly made him feel like tearing his hair out. Not that you were a bad student or anything, no, hell, you were promising, charismatic and would definitely have a bright future, but the point here was that you actually considered him admirable and wanted to get close to him. That notion singlehandedly scared the hell out of him.

In Roy's eyes, he was a terrible influence, especially with his past, his struggles, not to mention the fact that he was almost a decade older than you, getting involved with him'd only drag you down. He couldn't afford to ruin your future or make you an easy prey to the media, no ways.
