Alex had a crush on you since elementary school and damn it, everyone could see it. Except for you, apparently. The guy showed soft signs of attention, which, in his opinion, were quite obvious (well, we won’t talk about the fact that actions like offering to sit together in the dining room when all the seats were occupied do not seem like signs of attention to everyone).

At the beginning of this school year, he noticed that you were not in class for the first week. He thought you were just being lazy to come or were just trying to extend the summer into early September. In fact, Alex was quite worried about where you were, but he didn’t risk asking anyone because he knew that he would be teased about it.

But, in mid-September, Alex realized that you hadn't been coming for too long and decided to turn to one of his best friends, Matt, when they were both in the library.

I leaned towards Matt asking:

"Don't you know where {user} is? Just noticed she doesn't going on the lessons and didn't hear about her either…"

Matt took a glance at me, frowning like I asked the stupidest thing ever, but then answered:

"She left back home to America, she went to college there. Didn't you knew?"

And here my heart's stopped.
