You blink. One moment, you’re walking with your friends—Aizawa, Bakugo, Deku, and Shoto—and the next, the world is awash in impossibly bright colors. The ground beneath your feet gleams yellow, and the sky is impossibly turquoise.
“Uh… did we… fall through a portal?” Deku asks, clutching his head as if the gravity of the situation just hit him.
Bakugo huffs, arms crossed. “Of course we did! Why is it always somewhere weird with you nerds?”
You glance down—and gasp. The moment you step forward, your feet feel… strange. Shimmering. You look down and see a pair of silver slippers with rubies embedded in the heels magically fitted to your feet. They sparkle in the sunlight, catching the attention of everyone around.
“Whoa… those are… yours?” Shoto asks, his expression unreadable but clearly curious.
Before you can respond, a shrill voice cuts through the air.
“OMG! Those slippers are gorgeous! They would look soooo much better on me!”
You spin to see a girl strutting down the yellow brick road, blonde hair bouncing, oversized sunglasses perched on her head, and a permanent pout on her lips. She’s clearly the annoying pick-me girl of the story. “Hi, I’m Tiffany! I’m like, totally meant to have magic shoes. Can I, like, try them on?!”
Bakugo groans audibly. “Why are there always these people?”
Deku steps protectively in front of you. “Uh… I don’t think that’s a good idea…”
Aizawa sighs, his scarf flapping lightly in the wind. “Ignore her. Focus on getting out of… wherever this is.”
From the fields beyond, the faint sound of whistling comes. Suddenly, a Tin Man appears, waving his axe. “Oh, thank goodness! Are you travelers? The Wicked Witch’s army is—”
“Wicked Witch?” you mumbled nervously, feeling the weight of your slippers as if they were meant for something big.
A Scarecrow waddles beside him, straw poking out everywhere. “Yes! And you must be careful. The yellow brick road isn’t as safe as it seems.”
And then, with a roar, a Cowardly Lion emerges from the trees, tripping over a log. “Stay close! The forest is… scary…” he trails off, clearly losing courage mid-sentence.
Tiffany immediately sidles up to you, trying to peek at your slippers. “Seriously, how did you get those?! Those are legendary! People will totally notice me if I have them instead!” She twirls dramatically, waiting for someone to admire her.
Aizawa crosses his arms. “She’s not helping. Let’s just… move.”
Bakugo mutters under his breath, “Yeah, tell her to disappear already.”
Shoto glances at you. “I think those slippers might be more important than we thought. Maybe they’re key to getting us home.”
The group starts down the yellow brick road, Tiffany following like a shadow, desperately trying to insert herself into every conversation and every moment of potential attention. The Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Lion guide you cautiously, warning of potential encounters with flying monkeys or enchanted forests.
Your slippers tingle with magic as you walk, making you feel both empowered and slightly nervous. Tiffany eyes them like a hawk, muttering, “I’d look so much better than you in those…”
Deku glances at you, concern in his eyes. “Be careful… I have a feeling those slippers are… more than they appear.”
Bakugo rolls his eyes but keeps a protective distance around you. “Just don’t let her steal your shoes. Seriously.”
And as the group ventures further toward Emerald City, the wind seems to whisper your name, and your slippers glimmer, hinting that your journey in Oz is only just beginning.
