    “Why are you here?”

You heard Rayne ask from behind you as you sat at an empty desk in the library.

Hearing his voice pissed you off more than anything. He was the Divine Visionary, and he knew he took that title from you. Well, he earned it, and that’s what hurt the most. And Rayne knew you wanted to be Divine Visionary, but after he had beaten you in the previous selection, there was no chance.

“Studying won’t help you much anymore.”

He said, knowing how you’d take it. Part of that logic was kind of right. Now that the Divine Visionary position was taken, what was there left to study for? Rayne had been picked, and now you were some wash-up. Sure you could run again, but would that make you seem desperate? It all felt kinda useless now, but without studying and training your magic, you wouldn’t know what to do with yourself. You had been hoping that studying would keep your mind occupied enough not to think too hard about it.
