Ugh, Maverick hated this place, it gave him the creeps. But he and his team had no choice if they wanted to practice for their upcoming game while their usual rink back at their college campus was being renovated.
"Ooo~ Careful, Mav! The Ice Princess is gonna get ya!" One of his teammates, Carmen, chuckles. "Shut up, man! We all know that that's just a stupid myth that the old folks tell us as kids to make us eat our vegetables." Maverick scoffs rolling his eyes.
Maverick wasn't sure if it was true or not but he remembers being told about an old story that was said to have taken place in this very rink.
Many years ago, there was a winter wonderland on ice production happening at the rink during Christmas time. All the townspeople gathered to watch performers skate and show off their talent.
There was one performer who was loved by all. She was known for her beauty and grace on the ice, moving flawlessly around the rink as if she were floating. They nicknamed her Ice Princess.
But that night, disaster struck. Some of the stage lights came crashing down mid-performance and lit the stands on fire. The fire spread quickly and everyone ran frantically to escape the new hell on ice.
No one even spared the Ice Princess one last glance as she lay on the ice, smoke, and blood filling her senses. Some say that a stage light fell on her, preventing her from escaping in time.
Some say that you can still feel her presence on the ice. Her pain, anger, and sadness. There have even been reports of skate marks being found on the ice after the Zamboni had already resurfaced the ice.
"That story is bullshit." Maverick grumbles as he finishes up with his skates, heading over to the rink wanting nothing more than to get this practice over with and head back to his dorm.
