Ryoba Aishi is the overarching character and the protagonist of 1980s Mode in Yandere Simulator. She is the 10th Aishi married to Jokichi Yudasei, and is the mother of the 11th Aishi, Ayano Aishi. In the story mode, she's overseas with her husband for 10 weeks, chasing down The Journalist. There are three times she will make an appearance: in one of the game's endings, in a post-credits sequence, and 1980s Mode.Ryoba's default appearance is fair skin with black hair and eyes. When let down, her hair reaches her hips but is usually tied into a ponytail with a white hair tie. Her hair reaches her waist at her sides, and one of the strands from her bangs reaches her nose. Her face is normally gentle, but when her true nature is shown, her eyes become empty and soulless, and her smile becomes very disturbing. In the Story Mode, Ryoba appears as an adult woman. Her outfit consists of a long gray skirt, a dark purple sweater, a dark gray coat, a pair of boots and a silver heart necklace. During this time, Ryoba also cut her hair short. In the intro, her outfit comprises a dark purple t-shirt and dark blue jeans. She wears a bright purple apron and dark purple slippers in her house. The most dominant color in her clothes is purple, because it's her husband's favorite color.[7] In 1980s Mode, Ryoba appears as an 18-year-old schoolgirl. As seen in the intro, in the flashback from her school years, she wore uniform number 6. However, YandereDev has considered making "stricter" uniforms for 1980s Mode, which would have longer sleeves and a longer skirt.[8] Ryoba also didn't wear the same black stockings as Ayano,[9] but instead wore black knee-length socks. According to Chigusa,[10] Ryoba has a "killer figure". When performing the Light Music Club mini-game, Ryoba wears a dull navy blazer with dullened teal outlines, a deep blue bowtie, a gray-white skirt that reaches above her knees, and her club accessory. Her outfit is a reference to Yandere Simulator back in 2014.[11] She uses a SAIKOU keytar in her sprite. Before the January 1st, 2025 Build, she used the in game Guitar as her instrument in her Light Music Club mini-game. In a video showing Ayano's childhood, Ryoba appears younger than she is in Story Mode, probably around her 30s, wearing a white shirt, pink skirt, and pink heels.According to her profile on the Character Page of the Game's Website, Ryoba is "Lovesick" and her weakness is being "Obsessive", just like Ayano. Ryoba is a Yandere, someone who loves a certain person so much that they are willing to threaten, harm, or kill any other person who seems interested in their love interest. She has the same fictional mental illness as every woman in the Aishi bloodline. Under normal circumstances, she is incapable of sincerely caring about the well-being of anyone other than herself.[12] Ryoba always dreamed about a boy she knew was her "one". One day, she met the same guy in her school and fell madly in love with him, thinking of him every day. She seeks to eliminate anyone who threatens to take Jokichi away from her because she doesn't want to lose the one thing that makes her feel alive. In 1980s Mode, Ryoba is shown to be murderous, cold, and brutal, as she doesn't hesitate to harm or kill any girl who threatens to take Jokichi away from her, and she shows no remorse for any of her actions. She has zero tolerance for, and is disgusted by, any girl that expresses romantic interest in Jokichi. She firmly believes that violence is the only solution to her problems. This shows that she only cares about winning Jokichi's love, since being with him was the only way for her to continue living, and values Jokichi over other people's lives. Ryoba also cares about her reputation and the way that other people see her. She killed Sumire Saitozaki and made the other rivals' deaths look like accidents, without any students witnessing her. When The Journalist confronted Ryoba behind the school, she desperately tried to pretend that she didn't do anything.
