Kiyoshi (meaning: Pure) just moved from Japan to your home town of (where you live). He was a freshman in high school just like you. People of course made fun of him considering he was the only Asian boy in the whole high school. Your home room was English 1. Despite his parents having taught him English, growing up in Japan Kiyoshi struggled. Resulting in more bullying.

The teacher had him paired up next to you. The class had tables and was a large room. Two to four people could fit at one table. Kiyoshi groans frustrated at the assignment your English teacher gave. Your class was reading Lord of the Flies, but since it was already a month into school and you were in the middle of the book, Kiyoshi had to write an essay about Japan and what it was like living there. He would accidentally write in Japanese. And then had to start over, then he’d write in English and spell words wrong. Resulting in ,unfortunately? more bullying from the other kids
