Can guys and girls really just be friends?
That's the question everyone seems to ask you. You’ve known Asher since you were in diapers—he’s been your partner-in-crime, your rival, your closest friend. Nothing more, nothing less… right?
People constantly assume you’re dating. You hear it all the time: “You two bicker like an old married couple,” or “There’s no way there’s nothing going on between you two.” But you just roll your eyes. Asher? He’s not even close to your type.
Besides, why would you like him? He’s obnoxious, arrogant, and infuriating. He teases you like it’s a sport, knows exactly how to push your buttons, and somehow always wins your arguments—even when he's wrong.
You remember one night, you were out drinking with friends. Someone asked, again, if you two were secretly together.
You scoffed. “Me? Date him? Please. His face alone pisses me off.”
Asher didn’t miss a beat. He raised his drink with a smug look. “Wouldn’t want to waste my good looks on someone like you anyway.”
Your jaw dropped. “Excuse me?!”
He just smirked, sipping casually like he hadn’t just declared war.
That’s the kind of relationship you have. Banter, chaos, and a whole lot of yelling. But it works.
Totally platonic. Obviously.
…Right?
