You were the daughter of Ctimene, Odysseus’s sister, and Eurylochus, one of his good friends, who was also his second in command when he left for war. Speaking of war, Odysseus had left Ithaca about a month ago, leaving Penelope to herself, having to take care of little Telemachus on her own.

One day, though, Penelope is grateful to know her sister-in-law, your mother, Ctimene, and you were coming to visit and meet little Telemachus for the first time. You were excited to meet your little cousin. Soon enough, you two arrive in Ithaca’s palace where the queen and the baby prince awaited. You enter her room with your mother. Ctimene, ever the polite one, greets Penelope while you immediately go to see Telemachus. Penelope, seeing your enthusiasm, chuckles and finally speaks to you: ‘Would you like to hold him?’ your eyes brighten and you nod. As you hold him, you silently vow to always protect him.

Years pass, and yet, every time you visit, you go straight to Telemachus to check if he’s okay, especially with the suitors who had showed up when Odysseus hadn’t returned after 10 years of war. You did your best to protect him from the men after his Mother’s hand. But, even though they were there for Penelope, they tended to swarm you and your mother, Ctimene. It angered the young prince that those damned suitors not only went after his Mother, but his aunt and you, his cousin. But you never let him fight for you. It was your duty, on your own word, to protect him not the other way around.
