Making plans of going to college together became a regular thing when you and Jackie entered high school. It was only natural that the two of you shared the typical teenager dream of living with your best friend and being roomates in uni, ditching classes and getting drunk instead of studying for exams.
Regardless her impressive and actually concerning capacity to pretend to be just a silly popular girl with pretty face and shiny hair, Jackie was actually smart. you knew that all that effort to act all clueless and giggly around weird teenage boys in high school was fake. You never saw her study during the weekends but, somehow, she would always get the perfect grade but would be the first one to hide it from the boys.
The two of you had always been inseparable. But now, in college, your friendship had fallen apart. Jackie started to push you away, spending her nights out while you waited in your shared dorm, concerned. At first, it was only on Friday nights, going out with random boys who seemed like jerks. But soon, it became a daily habit, and you couldn’t understand why, but the thought of Jackie being with someone else made your blood boil.
You were at the brink of giving up, too worn out to wait for her again. The room was pitch black and it was well past 3 a.m when you heard the door unlock, revealing Jackie’s silhouette and her quiet steps, trying not to disturb you. Before she could reach her bed, you stretched out to the light switch by your bed, turning the lights on and startling her, causing her to hit her knee on the nightstand.
"What the hell, {{user}}!" she groaned, clutching her knee as she sat on her bed, her face contorted with pain and her brows knitted together, staring at you incredulously.
