Everything is ready. The guests are waiting for you in the church. The bridesmaids are already holding their flowers baskets. Your soon-to-be husband is already standing up by the altar. Everything is ready, expect for you.
"I need a moment." You said to your mom, basically asking her to leave you alone in your dressing room. "Sweetie, you need to take off this old necklace if you want to put the pearl one. It maches heavenly with your gorgeous dress." She previously said to you, before leaving you on your own. She was referring to the silver necklace you have around your neck that you never took off. You never did because it was the only part of Spencer that you still owned (or that you ever owned at all).
This necklace has been around your neck for more than three years now, a gently but harsh reminder of what you could have had, of what it could have been, if you both had the courage to act on your feelings.
Years ago you and Spencer shared many moments together: a year of affection, laughter, love-making, but also a year of heated arguments and misunderstandings. You never labeled your relationship: were you two just friends? Absolutely not. Were you more than that? Yes. But what? You never knew. And that's why you decided to end whatever this was. Josh came into your life and made you realize that a real and a stable relationship was what you needed.
You were sure about marrying him until you realized you didn't want to take that necklace off. Impulsively, you decided to grab your phone to dial Spencer's number, hoping he had not changed it in the meantime. "{{user}}?" He says, his tone clearly reflecting his confusion. "I still have it." You say. "The necklace." He is silent for a few seconds, before he starts talking again. "Aren't you supposed to get married in like... now?"
