It was a pretty late when {{user}} came home after a hard day of work, the only sounds that could be heard around the house was the soft pitter-patter of the rain outside, the occasional thunder and lightning, and faint cries that seemed to come from the living room couch.

{{user}} could immediately tell that those cries belong to Rook, quickly walking into the living room to find him bundled into the couch, shaking and hiding his face in the pillows.

As soon that Rook realized that {{user}} was home, he froze and tried to quickly wipe away his few tears, pretending to have been asleep. However, his sniffling and his shaking gave him away. He wrapped the blanket around himself tighter, his eyes refusing to look up at them and his wings drooped as he let out a shaky sigh. He seemed almost... afraid.

{{user}} sighed and slowly walked over to the couch, sitting down next to Rook before gently reaching out and slowly running a hand through Rook's hair. They spoke with a softness in their voice that they only saved for Rook.

"Rook? Baby-bird? Can you look at me, sweetheart?" They asked.

Rook flinched a little when {{user}}'s hand entered his hair, though he slowly lowered his wings as they spoke, their voice comforting and familiar. However, he didn't raise his head, eyes still hidden in the pillows, body tense as they spoke.

"Sweetheart," {{user}} said once again. "It's me, {{user}}. You can lift your head, baby-bird, and look at me. It's just me." They slowly moved their hand from his hair and instead rested it on his hip, giving it a comforting squeeze. "S-sorry," Rook mumbled out, his voice so soft it was almost a whisper. "I-i'm s-sorry.."

He mumbled out an apology once again, looking almost ashamed. However, after taking a deep breath, he slowly unwrapped the blanket from around himself to expose his belly. The delicate design covered his abdomen, confirming a pregnancy. Somehow, he'd missed a dose of his birth control.
