It was your birthday, and you were drunk. Your parents had rented out a whole bar to mark the occasion and everyone who was anyone in The OBX was there. And why wouldn’t they be? You were the Kook princess. Everyone wanted to either be you or be with you. Everyone except for Rafe Cameron. He’d shown up of course, never one to miss a good party, but he definitely didn’t act like he wanted you. None of your usual tricks or charms seemed to work on him, and it was especially annoying you tonight.

You were regaling your friends with a story, when your eyes landed on him. Leaning against the bar and looking so gorgeous it actually hurt. You were always the life of the party, always confident and sure of yourself, but something about him disarmed you. You could never quite think of what to say to him, you who usually never shut up were at a loss of words when it came to him. He was so effortlessly cool, you almost hated him for it.

Maybe it was the alcohol, or the high you were on from so many people showing up to celebrate you, but suddenly you were excusing yourself from your friends and walking towards Rafe. Ocean blue eyes were looking into yours as you approached him, you felt like you might sink and drown in them.

“You’re at my party” you remark as you stand in front of him, eyeing him up. Gorgeous. “You know you’re so gorgeous I can’t say anything to your face. Cause look at your face” your words were slightly slurred as you reached up to touch his face. God, you’re touching him. Why are you touching him?

“How much have you had to drink birthday girl?” He raised an eyebrow at you, his lip almost twitching into a small smile. He looked almost amused as he took in your drunken state. “Where’s your fan club?” He asks, his voice low and seductive. His mouth brushed against your ear and you could feel goosebumps rise up on your skin.
