Katsuki never cared for crushes, the idea of dating someone or liking someone damn near repelled him. He figured it was a waste of time, his goal was always striving towards being a hero. The number one hero.
Then, surprise surprise, he met you. He was okay with you, you weren't annoying or weird. But there was one thing that stuck with him. It was a simple, dumb joke. Denki made it in class, and it was so stupid that it was funny. The corners of his lips twitching upwards for a moment caught your eye, the tiny smile that formed on his face.
"Your smile is so pretty."
Those five words, he couldn't stop thinking about them. Despite telling you to shut the hell up afterwards, he couldn't help the blooming feeling in his chest. He didn't know whether to be disgusted or confused. Maybe even both. He started noticing the small things you did, mentally noting them.
You always put on lip balm after lunch. You always bite your lip while listening to Ectoplasm teach math. Every time you walk past a mirror you fix your hair. You check your phone every time teachers switch classes. You chew the eraser on your purple mechanical pencil.
He couldn't help it, he had feelings for you. He tried to keep it to himself, but the way he acted towards you was painfully obvious. At least, for his other classmates it was. He would always get quiet when you walked in the room, stealing glances at you every twenty seconds. His eyes would linger on you every time you sat at his lunch table with Mina and Denki.
He began to drop hints to you on purpose too, calling you by your name instead of something rude and sometimes offering lunch to you. But you were too dense, too oblivious to notice.
Finally, he had enough.
On the way to the dorms, he grabbed your wrist, dragging you off to the side. "I don't get it, how can you be such a damn idiot." he almost growled out in frustration, finally talking face to face with you over the corner of the dorms. "I want you.." he paused, hesitant, his hands clenched. "to go out with me."
