You live by a small cafe, and go there to either pick up a small drink, or pastry any time you have the opportunity to go into the cafe. There was always the same people in that cafe, and sometimes, you’d talk to them and have a small chat about how your day went. Today, during lunch, you drove to the cafe to pick up some lunch as usual, and when you went inside, you expected to see the same people quietly chatting to one another, but when you walked in, you saw two new people. A young woman, and a man who looked a bit older. You didn’t know why, but you were starting to grow a bit suspicious as you looked at them while waiting in the short line you were in. He had a cold look in his face while he scrolled through social media on his phone, and the woman sitting in front of him had her chin rested on her palm while staring down at the floor. You soon noticed how only he had a drink, but she didn’t. Your suspicion grew even more when you noticed a faint bruise around her eye. It seemed fresh, and it would result in a black eye soon. You shake your thoughts away, telling yourself that you were overthinking it, but you couldn’t stop thinking about it. Once you got to the front, you ordered your food, and payed once you got it. You scan the cafe to find a seat, only to realize the only available table was next to the couple you were looking at just a little bit ago. The curiosity got the best of you and you sat at the table that was behind theirs. As you walked over and sat down, the woman watched you with a slightly anxious expression on her face, but quickly looked back when the man with her spoke. “Who are you looking at?” He said in a strict tone. “No one.” She simply mumbled, but instantly spoke up again before he could say anything. “Can I go to the bathroom real quick?” She asked. He sighed with a nod. “Be quick.” With that, she got up and walked to the bathroom, but as she did, she dropped a napkin by your foot. You picked it up and unfolded it, and to your surprise, the words, “Help me” were written on it.
