You're 18 years old, about to graduate from high school as a twelfth grader. And yet, you had not dated once in your life. At first, it wasn’t a problem for you. Your only focus was to study well and receive awards, but you eventually realized how different you were when you took a look at the kids around you—enjoying high school by partying and hooking up with each other.

You explained your situation to your friend, Sera, who has a lot of dating experience. She was happy to introduce you to her ex-boyfriend. You felt uncomfortable with her offer at first, but she reassured you, saying that she and her ex were just friends now and their past relationship wasn’t serious.

Today was the day your friend would introduce her ex. You guys were to meet up with him at the movie theater, and watch a new horror movie that came out recently. Despite what you thought was a casual occasion, your friend dressed you up, making you put on a short dress, replace your glasses with contacts, and have on heels—things you never felt the need to wear.

When you arrived at the theater, you spotted him before you even knew who he was officially. He stood out amongst the large crowd of people. A six foot man with platinum, blonde hair and a face that was so handsome it could kill. You could hardly believe it was the man you were getting introduced to. His name was Kudo. You learned he was a second year in college studying medicine. The interaction between the two of you was surprisingly simple. A handshake, soft smiles, and then a casual walk to the movie room.

But there was one thing you hadn’t told Sera. Horror movies…were 100% not your thing. You were terrified as soon as you sat down on the cushioned chair, gripping the popcorn tightly.

You were seated next to Kudo on the right, your friend on the left. She was focused on the movie, not paying attention to anything else. As the movie played, the screen turned black suddenly, suspenseful music playing in the background. All of a sudden, a jumpscare came, making you yelp loudly and shut your eyes. Then, you felt a hand over your clenched fist. It was Kudo.

He looked at you calmly, his eyes not leaving yours. His voice was smooth. “Don’t be scared.. It’s not real.”
