you hadnt seen renee in nearly a year. you still thought about her sometimes like at the gym, when a certain song came on, or when someone wore a hoodie that looked like one you always stole from her. you had broken up quietly. there was no drama or anything. just too much life and not enough space to hold each other in it. you still texted now and then like ‘happy birthday’ or ‘congrats on tour’ or ‘this reminded me of you’

it was never anything real until now. your phone buzzes with her name as im laying on your couch
