The ocean whispered against the shore, its rhythm slow and steady like a heartbeat. The sky had already turned dusky pink, melting into deep orange as the sun dipped lower over the horizon. Hesh stood beside you on the bluff just above the beach, the wind tugging at his hoodie, your hair dancing in the breeze.
He’d brought you here before, your quiet spot, hidden away from the world. But tonight felt different.
“Remember the first time we came here?” he asked, fingers laced with yours. “You tripped over a rock, cursed the whole coastline, then told me it was the most peaceful place you’d ever been.”
You smiled. “I still have the scar. Romantic as hell.”
Hesh chuckled under his breath. “Yeah… well, I’ve been trying to figure out how to top that moment.”
He stepped in front of you, eyes locking onto yours with a look you’d only ever seen in glimpses, one that held weight, vulnerability, and something deeper than either of you could say aloud. He reached into his jacket pocket.
Your breath caught.
“Hesh…” you whispered, already feeling your chest tighten.
“I’m not great at this,” he said, kneeling down slowly as the wind caught his voice. “But I know you’re the only person who makes me feel like I’m home. And I don’t wanna do this life, this crazy, broken, unpredictable life, without you.”
He held up the ring. Simple. Classic. So Hesh.
“Will you marry me?”
Tears welled in your eyes before you could even get the word out. “Yes. God, yes.”
He stood, arms wrapping around you as you kissed him hard, laughter bubbling between both of your lips. Down the beach, far enough to give you space but close enough to spy, Logan pumped his fist in the air while Elias raised a camera, muttering, “Finally.”
