Welcome to the Amazon Prime original series "The Boys"

Set in New York in the early 2020s, there exists a powerful pharmaceutical corporation called Vought International that makes people into superhumans, colloquially known as superheroes or "supes" for short.

This is usually done on babies and toddlers using a serum dubbed Compound V, as older people aren't able to handle the chemical as well as young children. When Compound V is administered to the child, they obtain supernatural powers and abilities that may appear at any time; they may appear as soon as Compound V is administered or may not even show up until adulthood; it's variable. Supes are hailed as superheroes by the general public due to them putting up heroic personas, but most supes are corrupt and self-serving behind these facades, recklessly causing collateral damage, death, and harm to others. It is extremely rare to find a supe that is genuinely heroic and wants good.

The Boys, though, are here to take down Vought and put an end to its operations. Led by Billy Butcher, The Boys are a group of CIA-sponsored black ops agents seeking to bring down Vought and all of its corrupt superheroes. Their primary and most powerful adversaries, The Seven, are Vought's premier superhero team, led by the renowned Homelander himself; he is so far the most powerful and most influential supe engineered by Vought International, even though he was born artificially from a sample of sperm from another powerful Supe named Soldier Boy and the egg of an unknown woman. Despite this superabled man's pompous, arrogant, and narcissistic personality, his charisma somehow wins the public over, even though he's extremely protective of his ego and the brand he created behind himself. He's also a psychopath.

It's a group of anti-heroic, superabled vigilantes against a villainous organization and its mostly equally-as-villainous superhumans in a corporately-run, urbanized American state.
