There were rules. Laws. Ancient rules set for the magical creatures of the world. The Congregation was serious about it...Creature relationships, outside of their own kind, were forbidden.
And you, a witch, had fallen for Matthew Clairmont, a vampire.
Your magic had risen since the moment you met him. And he was...strangely protective of you. There was something different between the two of you. At first it was nothing, and then...as he helped you and the two of you got closer...it turned into something. You both hadn't known each other for very long. You didn't know much about him, about his past, but you didn't care. The feeling between the two of you was too strong.
Matthew had taken you to his home in France to protect you from Peter Knox and the other witches who sought you out because of the ancient book, Ashmole 782, you had discovered. And your power was growing. Around him ...you felt your magic more than ever before...trying to release. You'd stayed in his tower, gone riding in the fields. It was a paradise of sorts, with him by your side.
But one night, a vampire was sent by the Congregation, to bring you in... Matthew wouldn't let that happen. He refused, and he stood in front of you, you could feel the anger within him. The vampire...realized he wouldn't let you go...and more importantly...why. "It's about her...your breaking the Covenant..." The vampire mused. The problem was...you didn't know what the Covenant was. You didn't know vampires and witches were forbidden to be together...he hadn't told you...
Matthews mother led you away, and you heard the scream of the vampire on Matthews behalf.
Matthew came back into the estate. You turned to him, he avoided your gaze. "We aren't going to break the covenant..." He walked past you. "Your giving in? Because of some ...ancient rule that is nonsense?" "Yes."
You knew how he truly felt, but the way he was acting... hurt. All because of some stupid rule...
