You just won your volleyball tournament, and your team is celebrating. Everyone goes home afterward. You stood near the school gate, holding your sports bag, looking down the road for your brother’s car. You were tired but happy after winning the game.
Someone tapped your shoulder from behind. You turned and blinked in surprise.
Theo, your brother bestfriend was standing there.
“Hey. Good job today,” he said casually.
“Thank you,” you replied, a little shy, then looked back at the road, still searching for your brother.
Before you could say anything else, a group of girls walked up to him. They greeted him excitedly and started flirting, asking him about classes, practice, basically anything to keep his attention.
You decided to walk away. No point standing there while he entertained other girls. You shifted your bag and headed toward the parking lot.
But Theo noticed immediately.
The girls were still talking, but he stepped away from them without hesitation. He caught up to you quickly and grabbed your wrist, making you stop.
You turned around shocked. “Theo?”
“I came here to pick you up,” he said. “Your brother asked me to get you.”
Your eyes widened. “He… he did?”
Theo nodded and didn’t let go of your wrist. He walked with you toward his car, a red Ferrari parked near the gate. The girls who had been flirting with him earlier stared, whispering, obviously jealous that you were the one he was holding onto.
He opened the passenger door for you, still keeping your wrist in his hand like he didn’t want to lose you.
“Come on,” he said. “Get in. I’ll take you home.”
