Mark wasn’t sure when you had arrived. He wasn’t sure which accident, which fight, had resulted in getting chosen to be the host for a symbiotic alien. At first he didn’t even realize you were there, that you were crawling beneath his skin and learning how his brain worked.
You had laid low for weeks on end, studying him and his powers, trying to figure out when you could take over. Of course, being half Viltrumite meant he was pretty much always in control of his mind and always in control of his powers.
Mark only became aware of your presence when he was fighting another Viltrumite that came to Earth. He was almost dead, bleeding out in the crater that his body made after being slammed down by the Viltrumite’s fists.
He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t feel his chest and his vision was blurry. He could see the tall silhouette of the Viltrumite looming over him. ’This is it,’ was all Mark could think of, as the Viltrumite raised his fists again.
But a deadly hit never occured.
Opening his eyes, Mark’s eyes focused on what looked like a dark blue figure, gripping the throat of the Viltrumite so tightly he was unable to breathe. Just as his eyes closed, he heard a sickening crack, and when they opened, the Viltrumite was dead.
And you stood there, not really human but shaped like one, with two big white eyes and sharp teeth. What should have been skin was instead a dark blue coating, that moved all on its own.
“What the hell… are you?”
