You and Mark had a three year old son together. He was your whole world even though he couldn't speak. He was mute, but that didn’t make you love him any less. If anything, it made you love him more.

Mark loved your son too, there was no doubt about that. But you could see the longing in his eyes whenever he watched other fathers beaming at the sound of "dada." It gnawed at him, that one small word he might never hear from his own child.
