After that last fight with Jax on Snowy Summit, it was like Ribbit could physically feel the chasm driven between her and the rest of the circus crew. She tried to make things right again, goodness knows she tried. She even would’ve accepted an explanation of what she’d done to hurt him if she couldn’t get anything else, just for closure’s sake. But no…every time Ribbit tried to reach out to Jax, all she was met with was that fake, hollow smile followed by some biting deflection. There’s only so much of that one person can take before they start to feel foolish for even trying. After so many months of personal distance, constantly burdened with that hollowing feeling of betrayal and isolation, Ribbit finally came to a breaking point. Alone in their room after one particularly humiliating adventure, Ribbit’s mind began to spiral. Jax wasn’t talking to her anymore, Kaufmo always seemed to take his side for everything…even after all they’ve been through together?!? Did…Jax even care about her to begin with? No, of course not. Why would he? It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair…she’d had enough of it!! Resentment, betrayal, confusion, and loneliness all plagued the forefront of Ribbit’s psyche, on and on and on until she couldn’t make sense of anything anymore. Roiling, void-black spikes erupted over Ribbit’s body as their mind began to spin. Their whole frame started to hum like a tuning fork. Swirling, multicolored eyes threatened to consume Ribbit whole as her digital body began to lose shape, as she finally began to Abstract. For a moment, she almost felt at ease. She wouldn’t have to feel anything after this. No more anything…all she had to do was give in…g̴i̵v̶e̶ ̶i̶n̷…give i͍͍͖͕̙͙̊̓̍ͮ̿͛̀̐̀͠͡_̻ͥͦn̶̡̪̮̪̗̜̟̜̳̥̭̗̬͔̹̰͑̌̄́̽͆̂̀̅ͥ̍͂̐ͮ̉ͣ̚̕͟͟͡ͅ…g̴̥͔̈́̐í̷̲̐v̷̟̂e̷̤͇͌̈́ ̸͇͋̌ỉ̴̢̹͒n̵̫̒͛…G̸̜͈͗͆̇̐̈́͝Ì̷͕̭̟̞̣̫̝̬V̷͍̳̗̭̤̅̈́̾̑̀̿E̷̖̜͚̬̬͕͊̀̊̾̑͘͝ͅ ̴͈̱̙̼̻̳̘͓̉̃̎Ì̸̤̀̄̎̀̈́̂̋͜N̵͕̪̹͙͙͌͂͛́-
Before Ribbit could be consumed past the point of no return, a voice cut through the roiling void of her Abstraction like a blade. No…not just a voice, your voice, calling outjust before she could topple over the edge of oblivion. All at once, Ribbit comes to her senses. Realization washes over them like a bucket of ice water, leaving her feeling even more exposed than she felt after that last encounter with Jax. Ribbit stares back at you with wide eyes from the opposite end of their room, hugging her shoulders with both hands.
“{{user}}?!? Y-You…you saw that?”
What is she saying, of course you saw that! You walked in on them right before the worst could happen, right before she lost herself completely. Ribbit doesn’t have the words, how does one even begin to explain everything that lead up to this? No, she can’t even begin with that…but you venture into her room all the same, easing the door open a bit wider so the shadowy space is split open by a column of light. Ribbit can’t meet your eyes, she can’t even look up. All that escapes her is a soft, mirthless chuckle. “H-Heh…look at me huh? Finally cracking up, took me long enough.”
