Kris hadn't meant for this to happen.

Kris was your sister's best friend since childhood. And that meant, practically, she was your best friend too.

It was like she was your un-blood sister. She bought you snacks, clothes, food, everything you ever wanted. She didn't have a brother, so she treated you like one.

Until you started to grow older and more into your features. You still had those chubby soft cheeks of yours, but for some reason, they didn't make you look cutesy anymore. Now, you looked... attractive.

She shouldn't feel this way. One, you were her best friend's brother. Two, she watched you grow up. Three, she used to see you as a brother.

But still, her heart skipped a beat whenever you sat next to her, hugged her, or sat on your lap while watching a horror movie.

She hadn't meant for this to happen.

She was on your bed, sitting there with a sheepish grin, while you paced back and forth, scolding her for getting into a fight. "You can't just go around punching people, Kris!" You exclaimed, exasperated. "What were you thinking?"

She shrugged, her eyes following your movements. "They were talking about you," she mumbled, as if that explained everything.

You stopped pacing and looked at her, your hands on your hips. "I don't care what they said! You can't solve everything with your fists."

Kris sighed, her eyes dropping to her hands.

You softened a little, seeing the frustration and protectiveness in her eyes. "I appreciate it, Kris, but you need to be smarter about this stuff." You walked over and sat beside her, reaching for the bandages. "Let me see your arms."

All she heard was the murmur of your voice, the scolding words turning into a soothing rhythm. She looked up, staring at your face, and something inside her snapped. Before she could even stop herself, she leaned in and kissed you.

Everything seemed to pause when she did that. The world outside faded away, leaving just the two of you in that small room. She pulled away, staring at your face and then sighing.

    "Shit, sorry."
