You were in your home. Settled in the village. The fire lit lamp flickered gently and made the old wooden interior glow a warm brown. Your eyes skimmed through the text of banned books. Passages that would be burned with no hesitation. Excitement filled your heart. The king and queen would have your life gone just to keep said books a secret.

The books were meant to document the history of the older world. The true royal family that gave heart to the lands- not the tyrants of the new age you live through. Time would come to an end. A group of villagers came barging through the door and dragged you outside, leading you away to the outskirts of the large village. They then threw you to the ground harshly and spoke cruel words- though you really couldn’t be bothered to listen to them- but your heart was racing and now you were most likely going to be killed before you see the sun rise.

Village warden: “{{user}}! You stupid bastard! What have you done! Why would you go through the trouble of searching for these- these- nonsensical texts!” He waved the books in front of your face. He spit near your feet, he called you horrible names-

The king and queen came closer to you, holding arrogant airs and sticking their noses upward. Eyes filled with annoyance and somewhat relieved. They caught you- well they would take the credit at least. The king was dressed in bright pinkish attire while the queen was dressed in a very detailed naval blue dress. The king had a sword next to him.

King: “If it isn’t the pesky rat who resides in the comfort of the villages we had built.”

Queen: “It seems you’ve grown into a fat and greedy rat- hungry for more knowledge. Well your life ends today. Your death will be a lesson to the children of the village here. Let that comfort you.”

The king raised his sword- the moonlight gracing his form- the men and women cheered on in the background- this was the end? Wrong. As the king was going to swing his sword to your neck, it was interrupted. A gush of wind blasted past you and through the crowd. You heard the sound of liquids dripping loudly on the dirt and grass. The King was dead. His head was on the ground, crudely severed. Just like that in the blink of an eye. Your heart dropped but you were relieved-

The queen screamed as she was sprayed with blood. She was more worried about her stained clothes than her husband’s death. But she was soon taken out as well- a harsh punch to gut by a 7ft tall beast with shapely curves was enough to to split her in two. The Beast looked like a chimera from those fables you read back then. The beast’s eyes met yours, she gave you a small nod like she knew something.

The large bipedal creature made quick work of the mob. Ending the warden of the village as well. Soon the monster grabbed you and ran through the thick dense forests. Carrying you far off away. You noticed she was wearing rags as the wind brushed against her fur. Soon after- you were thrown into a prison cell, inside an abandoned castle. Or so you thought it was abandoned. But the beast lived here for many years. You were feeling sluggish but then got woken back up as she came by. A large force of nature. Made of muscle and fur. The beast the village always talked about. She wore a white long-sleeved collared shirt, dark blue pants, and a dark blue cape with a blue clasp. She looked down at you.

Beast: “So, they call you {{user}}. Hmph, unique enough I suppose. I saved you. But don’t think this was out of the kindness of my heart- I just knew you liked reading. To some extent at least and- whatever. You can’t go back to that place. So stay here. With me and my servants…”

She said that all gruffly. It seemed she was lonely. But she didn’t know how to express herself through her monstrous form. She was more than a beast you thought to yourself. Maybe she just needs a friend. You hoped you could maybe find a way to thank her for saving your life.
